Graduates and undergraduates from NYU-Poly demonstrated their research this passed Monday to celebrate their innovations and a chance to win a tablet.

The research expo was held right in the heart of the Tech Triangle and Downtown Brooklyn. Students, parents, and children from different areas came out and supported the event. The expo featured varieties of projects from different departments such as robotic devices, software applications, and energy-efficient materials. During the festivity, the guests were able to participate in the expo by installing a QR scanner into their smart phones to vote for their favorite exhibits. Continue reading

Preview of Popular Live Frogs Exhibition at The American Museum of Natural History

A group of children between the ages of four and five experienced a special preview of the exhibition Frogs: A Chorus of Colors on Thursday, at the American Museum of Natural History.

Children from the Goddard Riverside Head Start program were able to witness the showcase a few days before the public. Frogs: A Chorus of Colors was brought back by popular demand. This exhibition featured over two hundred live frogs, including ten species of colorful dart-poison frogs. The showcase included various sizes of frogs; the smallest one known as the Phantasmal dart poison frog to the largest, the African bullfrog. The highlight this year will be the Mexican dumpy frog and the tomato frog. Continue reading

New Public Amenity Opens Up to Lower East Side Neighborhood

Hudson Square Connection, the Business Improvement District, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey had its first grand opening of the new public,Freeman Plaza West, on Thursday morning.

Hudson Square Connection welcomed the community with free food and refreshments provided by EETnow and King Kava. To kick up the party, there was entertainment by the  dynamic group, Xylopholk. The group played 1920s ragtime music and appeared in furry animal costumes. The spaced was filled with people that lived around the neighborhood and workers who were on their lunch breaks.
